A: Different documents are required for different programs. Examples include birth certificate, proof of residency, documentation of employment or school enrollment by the parent.

A: Most programs enroll year round. Avoyelles Early Childhood Network also hosts enrollment events in the spring each year. If you are interested in enrolling, we encourage you to complete an application and we will help you.

Q: Where do I apply for an early childhood program?

A: Apply online. For a complete list of sites and site addresses, use the Early Childhood Programs tab.

Q: If I qualify, is my child guaranteed a spot?

A: No, eligibility doesn’t guarantee enrollment. In order to provide a safe and developmentally appropriate environment, all programs have only a certain number of children they can serve.

Q: What happens if I don’t qualify?

A: If you don’t qualify for a publicly-funded program, paying tuition at a quality rated child care center is an option. The right care and education for your child in these critical years is worth considering. Remember, your choices shape their chances and quality should always be your choice.

Q: What is a Child Care Resource and Referral Agency?

A: The Child Care Resource and Referral Agency for Avoyelles Parish is Volunteers of America South Central Louisiana. Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) agencies support child care centers and registered family child care homes by providing
research-based coaching, technical assistance, group training,
and emergency respite care. In addition, the agencies provide an
